Pirates in-game host shares inspiring message with RGMS students

Ryan Gloyer Middle School (RGMS) welcomed Pittsburgh Pirates In-Game Host, Joe Klimchak, as part of their ongoing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiative.

Mr. Klimchak presented in two sessions to seventh and eighth grade students, sharing his personal journey and how he achieved his dream job. His message centered on the idea that being “ordinary” does not limit success, ordinary people can achieve great things. He encouraged students to set stretch goals, discover what they love, make time to develop their skills, believe in their ability to grow, and consistently put in the work. Emphasizing a growth mindset, he reminded students that progress comes from showing up, even when it’s challenging.

He also emphasized the importance of the “Three R’s” - respect, responsibility and resilience, reinforcing that strong character is the foundation of lasting success - the values and culture that RGMS teachers and staff work diligently to foster within their school.

PBIS is a framework designed to make schools more effective places. By implementing evidence-based practices, schools can support their students’ academic, social, emotional and behavioral success, engage with families and use data to guide decisions that strengthen school culture.
