Ehrman Crest Middle School hosted the first-ever Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) District 5 Elementary String Fest. This event gave fifth and sixth grade orchestra students from school districts throughout PMEA District 5 the opportunity to come together to make music. Participating students went through an audition process with their respective orchestra teachers. Students who passed the audition process were given music to prepare and spent April 17 working under the direction of Pierce Cook, middle school orchestra director from Mt. Lebanon School District. The day culminated with an evening concert for their families and the community at Ehrman Crest Middle School. Participating school districts included Seneca Valley School District, Blackhawk School District, Butler Area School District, Hermitage School District, Knoch School District and Neshannock School District.
