Ryan Gloyer Middle School hosts Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils Middle Level Conference

On Friday, Jan. 16, Ryan Gloyer Middle School (RGMS) Student Council hosted the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils (PASC) Middle Level Conference, themed “Blast Off to Leadership.” The conference is designed to strengthen leadership skills in middle level students. This year’s event welcomed student leaders from Union School District, Haine Middle School, Ehrman Crest Middle School and RGMS, including members of Best Buddies and Hope Squad.

The day began with a keynote address from Ms. Brittany Neish, founder of “What You Do Matters.” Ms. Neish shared five key components of effective leadership: being coachable, listening well, collaborating with others, learning how to learn and managing emotions.

Following the keynote, students participated in interactive leadership workshops led by Student Council members from the Intermediate and Senior High Schools. These sessions allowed students to further develop their skills through peer-led discussion and activities.

The conference concluded with a schoolwide service project in which students wrote positive messages on sticky notes and placed them on lockers throughout RGMS to spread encouragement and positivity. RGMS Student Council members also prepared sets of encouraging notes for Union School District participants to take back to their school and display.
