Seneca Valley Advancement DirectorSeneca Valley Foundation Development DirectorAs Director of Advancement for Seneca Valley School District and Director of Development for Seneca Valley Foundation, Chelsea Vazquez has been working diligently to cultivate a culture of philanthropy within the district community. Additionally, she is responsible for fundraising and donor relations districtwide; including planning Seneca Valley Foundation events, identifying major donors and obtaining grant funding.
Ms. Vazquez knew at a young age she wanted to work in a social-serving environment. As an SV alumna, her senior year of high school, Chelsea held her first fundraiser, a spaghetti dinner, as her Seneca Valley Senior Project where she raised over $3,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Western PA.
She went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Science in Social Work from Slippery Rock University. She then went on to earn her Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh from the School of Social Work. Her concentration was in Community Organizing and Social Administration with a Human Services Management Certificate, which has prepared her for working in macro-level social work. While earning her master’s degree, Ms. Vazquez completed her field work at the Department of Human Services in Allegheny County where she worked in Specialized Integrated Services for the Office of Community Relations for over a year.
After graduating from Pitt, Ms. Vazquez continued to serve her community as the Coordinator of Foundation Relations at Glade Run Lutheran Services; a non-profit that provides educational, mental and behavioral health, autism, and cultural services to individuals, youth and families. It was there she was able to expand her experience in grant funding, fundraising events and non-profit administration.
