- Seneca Valley School District
A New Day
On Monday, April 9, 2018, members of the Seneca Valley School Board approved a change to the start and dismissal times for students in grades K-12.
This adjustment, which will begin in the 2018-19 school year, has been based upon extensive research of the biology of adolescent sleep and its related impact on a student’s academic achievement.
The move will extend the Seneca Valley School District start time by 35 minutes for grades 7-12. Specifically, the 7-12 start time will now be 8:09 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:41 p.m. (current start is 7:34 a.m. and dismissal is 2:30 p.m.).
Because secondary buses are utilized for elementary routes, there will also be a new start time for grades K-6. Elementary start time will be extended by 15 minutes. Specifically, the K-6 start time will be 8:55 a.m. and the dismissal time will be 3:25 p.m. (current start is 8:40 a.m. and dismissal is 3:10 p.m.).
At this time, parents can anticipate their bus pick-up times will also be extended and follow the new start times of 35 minutes and 15 minutes, respective to a student's grade. Additional information will be provided in the coming weeks and months to address specific questions related to transportation.
Butler County Vocational Technical School Parents: instructional start time for vo-tech will not change. Seneca Valley will make the necessary transportation adjustments in order to accommodate the vo-tech schedule for Seneca Valley students.
