For the month of October, we are pleased to announce the newest member inducted into the SV All-Star Club, Mr. Tom Buchanan, District Maintenance Team Member.

The SV All-Star Club is an awards program developed by the District to express our gratitude to Seneca Valley classified employees (administrative assistants, paraprofessionals, maintenance, cafeteria), bus drivers and security guards who are often the unsung heroes of our schools. We recognize a new member of this elite all-star club each month.

Mr. Randy Miller, Director of Buildings and Grounds shared, “I am very proud and honored to have joined with Ms. Heather Lewis, Athletics & Activities Director in nominating Mr. Tom Buchanan for the SV All-Star Club award.”

“Tom just celebrated his 12-year work anniversary with the District,” said Mr. Miller. “He is such a reliable, hard-working member of our staff. He always maintains a positive attitude, has a smile on his face and is willing to help others at any time.”

Mr. Buchanan currently works in the senior high school where is an integral part of the buildings & grounds staff but also is invaluable in assisting the athletics & activities department by supporting the many events that occur in the evenings.  Mr. Buchanan sets up equipment for various athletics events in the gym as well as meetings occurring throughout the high school.

“I want to congratulate Tommy on his recognition this evening,” said Ms. Lewis. “Our world in athletics is centered around teams, teamwork and teammates.  Without hesitation, I can say Tommy is a wonderful teammate to the athletics department.  He works tirelessly to make sure our events in the senior high are set up in a timely manner and he is always on-hand and willing to assist with anything we need.  A familiar phrase I hear from Tommy is his question, ‘Are you ok – anything you need?’  He is always looking out for us and always willing to offer a helping hand.  Even more important than his tireless work ethic, Tommy is genuinely one of the nicest human beings I know.  He is always so positive, and his humor is very much appreciated!

“Tommy is a valuable member of this District and a key piece in the success of all that we do in athletics and activities,” Ms. Lewis added. “While I know it does not do justice to how much I appreciate him, I want to thank him for everything he does for us and this District.”

October 2, was National Custodial Workers Recognition Day. We want to give special thanks to all custodial workers and maintenance personnel who do such a wonderful job with the upkeep of our buildings throughout the District.
