Learning Through Viewing a Drama

Thanks to TEEN SCREEN, over ninety 10th graders from Ms. Russo and Miss Landolina’s English 10 classes traveled to the Lindsay Theater in Sewickley to view the biographical drama Till. The movie is based on the true story of Mamie Till-Bradley who pursued justice after the brutal murder of her son Emmett in August 1955. Students are currently studying elements of drama and how the arts can be used as social commentary in their classes. This was a very powerful example of how film can teach.

TEEN SCREEN, a film education program for students and teachers, provided the film and the venue free of charge.
