Seneca Valley was well represented at the 2020 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Jazz Festival held earlier this month at Slippery Rock University. Through a competitive audition process, 26 band students from Seneca Valley were selected and performed at the annual festival. Participants in this year’s ensemble were Leanne Abel, Sierra Albert, CJ Blakely, Adam Corrigan, Harry Foss, Elizabeth Hixon, Peter Ko, Julian Lagoon, Sreya Padamati, Jackson Scherzer, Chord Snow, Bryce White, Ally Buchek, Emma Conrad, Eden Geis, Kyle Gragg, Ethan Kiggins, Katelyn Livorse, Jeremy Love, Riley Milanovich, Victor Myrna, Kate Scanlan, Harrison Silvester, Dan Simoes, Ryan Sims and Dean Smith. The event concluded with a public concert in Swope Recital Hall. District 5 is made up of students from Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties. Students are led by Robert Matchett and Varden Armstrong, secondary instrumental instructors.
