The Seneca Valley Thespian Troupe #2094 inducted a record number of new members at their end-of-the-year “Tony Awards” themed celebration. Thespians is an international honors society which recognizes merit and accomplishments in the world of theater. Membership requires students to earn a certain number of points based upon their participation in theater activities, at least one school production in grades 9-12, and a written essay. Once inducted, students continue to earn points toward recognition and honors their senior year. The troupe participates in at least one activity each month, generally theater-related. In the past, students enjoyed a backstage visit with a national touring Broadway production at the Benedum Center, watched a variety of national tours, attended professional workshops at the Byham Theater, participated in stage combat workshops, performed a 24-hour play fest, and many other activities!

thespiansTroupe sponsor Amber Hugus stated, “It is always exciting to induct new members into this honors society. I was a member of Troupe #2094 myself when I was a student here at Seneca Valley and it is so rewarding to help create similar memories for my own students.Twenty-six new members is such an exciting number! I am looking forward to many fun adventures with the students next year and in years to come.”

New members each earned an SV “Tony Award” at the celebration, the club reenacted Broadway musicals, and graduating seniors received awards and recognitions. Recent SV graduates Jackson Hugus, Emilia Garcia and Ella Gemperlein were voted as best actor and best actresses by club members and Meg Hilling was given the Best Thespian Award. Congratulations to the new members and recent graduates of Troupe #2094!
