SV prepares for future with Director of Student Services hire

At Seneca Valley’s School Board Meeting on Monday, May 6, Board Members approved the appointment of Dr. Cassandra Doggrell as Seneca Valley School District’s Director of Student Services.

Dr. Doggrell is returning to Seneca Valley from the Upper St. Clair School District where she has worked for the past five years in various roles, including Director of Student Support Services and Director of Special Education.

Prior to her role at Upper St. Clair, Dr. Doggrell called Seneca Valley home for eight years where she proudly served in many positions including Haine Middle School Principal, (formerly) Evans City and Haine Middle School Assistant Principal, Autism and Emotional Support Teacher at Rowan Elementary School and summer camp teacher for students with autism.

“We are excited to welcome back Dr. Doggrell to Seneca Valley,” said Superintendent Dr. Tracy Vitale. “Dr. Doggrell has a wealth of knowledge about student support services and special education, and we feel that she will be a wonderful addition to our team.”

Dr. Doggrell’s student services experience at Upper St. Clair includes oversight of special education and psychological services, implementation of training sessions for staff members and paraprofessionals, development of special education budget and support of IEP processes and programming. She also supervised all areas of student support services, including special education, psychological services, school counseling, health services, English as a Second Language (ESL) and homebound instruction.

"I am happy to be back and ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students," said Dr. Doggrell. “I’m eager to collaborate with our dedicated team of administrators, educators, and support staff to ensure that every student receives the support and resources needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Seneca Valley is a special place where all students are valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. I look forward to reconnecting with students and families and forging new partnerships with our community.”

Dr. Doggrell earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Early Childhood from Grove City College, received a Master of Educational Administration from Duquesne University and a Master of Special Education from Waynesburg University. She also earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Doggrell will begin her position in early July and replaces Dr. Jeff Roberts, who has decided to return to his roots and serve as a classroom teacher on the Seneca Valley secondary campus.
