Big picture

Seneca Valley elementary schools are looking at the big picture. Project SNAP

The new Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Wexford Hospital is creating a mosaic mural that will be displayed in the hospital upon competition in 2021. The mural project will take individual pieces of student art and combine them together into one large picture.

Over 2,335 SV students in grades K-6 recently worked on crafting creative submissions that focused on the overall theme of “Caring for Our Community.”

Evans City Middle School Counselor Chrissy Wawrzyniakowski added, “The students were able to create art that illustrated that concept, or use the following keywords to inspire their design: community, quality, compassion, new life, friends, love, joy, patience, family, gratitude, trust, legacy, neighbors, growth, safety, generations, health, pediatrics, hope and hometown.”

SV counselors submitted the students’ artwork which will be some of the hundreds of thousands that create the mosaic mural.

“All of the counselors involved have done a tremendous amount of work to participate in this project,” stated Evans City Middle School Principal Tim Eiler.

Evans City Elementary School Counselor Nicole Moorman added, “I am so excited that our Seneca Valley students were able to participate in a project directly impacting our community. The students worked so hard to make such wonderful pictures in hopes to bring joy to those in the hospital.”
