SVF brings SV together

Speechless and grateful. That is how one struggling Seneca Valley family was left to feel after a random and verySVF logo generous act of kindness.
The Seneca Valley Foundation (SVF) was recently made aware of a family in need who has been tremendously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and needed financial assistance with their monthly rent payment. Upon learning of this need, an anonymous donor paid not one, but three months of rent for this local family. The mother of three was in disbelief and brought to tears after hearing the news. When told of this incredible gesture, SV’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tracy Vitale, who also serves as the Foundation’s Executive Director, stated, “This is exactly why we started the Foundation, to further engage and connect our community. I am proud of how our families have stepped up to help each other as we all work to get through this challenging time.”
Since its inception, the Seneca Valley Foundation, the non-profit arm of Seneca Valley School District, has made part of its mission to connect students and families across its vast geographic region. As the COVID-19 crisis began to affect the residents of the district, this priority of the Foundation became even more important. Through the generosity of so many, the Foundation was able to help its most vulnerable families by providing gift cards to restaurants and grocery stores, delivering food and non-perishable items and even supplying desks to students to make their new virtual learning environment more comfortable.  A fundraiser to sell handmade face masks, fueled by two parents of the district, has been incredibly successful and will benefit the district’s cafeteria fund.
