Hitting all the right notes
The Seneca Valley School District name has always been synonymous with great instrumental music programs. Students from Seneca Valley have brought home hundreds, perhaps thousands, of awards throughout the years in all of these areas, and this year is no exception.
SV Instrumentalists selected for All-State Band
Seneca Valley will be represented by 11 outstanding instrumentalists at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Festival that will be held in Erie, Pennsylvania, April 20-22.
The students were selected based on their audition results at the recent Region Band Festival held at Sharon High School March 22-24.
Selected to represent Seneca Valley is Jordan Bender on percussion; Maddy Sinan, Jared Famaglietti, and Aaron Wolfe on trumpet; Liz Winters and Mitchell Topf on clarinet; Sam Kochis on piccolo; Jessica Uhl on oboe; Brian Vogel on bassoon; Ben Hess on baritone saxophone and Austin Treu on euphonium.
SV freshmen, middle school instrumentalists selected for festival
Seneca Valley was well represented at the recent Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Junior High District Band Festival that was held at Mercer High School on March 28.
Students in grades 7-9 who participated in the festival were selected based on a submitted audition recording of required music.
Representing grade nine were Eden Geis, Kate Scanlan and Dean Smith on trombone; Kevin Karatassos and Evan Moeller on clarinet; Sean Scott on baritone saxophone; Jeremy Love on trumpet; Hannah Downs on tuba and Myles Weaver on percussion.
Representing grades 7-8 from Seneca Valley Middle School were Elizabeth Salgado and Alisha Aboosally on flute; Lizzie Sylves on bassoon; David Choi, Renhan Xu, Ally Buchek, Jada Chvilicek, Ashleigh Patterson, Jaya Subramaniam, Sophia Kunkel, Benaifer Sepai, Olivia Tilton and Reagan Wilkerson on clarinet; Alex Owen and Natalie Miller on alto saxophone; Ty Laughlin, Ethan Kiggins, Riley Milanovich and Trey Hixon on trumpet; J.T. McCarthy on French Horn; Sierra Albert on trombone; Luke Choban and Zach Garcia on tuba and Link Rupert on mallet percussion.
Instrumental teachers in the secondary campus, grades 7-12, include Robert Matchett, Varden Armstrong, Robert Babick and Sara Snyder.
