Coding in the classroom
Haine Elementary students in grades 1-4 coded in their computer classes the last two weeks in honor of the recent National Computer Science Education (CSED) Week and ‘Hour of Code.’
Coding is a district-wide effort, and a highly useful ability that also teaches problem-solving and communication skills.
The purpose of CSED Week is to highlight the importance of computer science and to give students the opportunity to learn more about it and their aptitude for it. The 'Hour of Code' is a nationwide initiative by CSED Week and code.org to introduce computer programming to 10 million students and encourage them to learn programming.
