Junior Classical League (JCL) Latin Club
About the JCL Organization
The National Junior Classical League was formed in 1936 and is sponsored by the Americal Classical League. It is an organization for junior high and high school students enrolled in Classical Courses (e.g. Latin and Greek language classes). It was formed to promote the study of Latin and Greek and to empart an understanding of the debt which our own culture owes to that of Classical antiquity. The Junior Classical League is composed of local and state / provincial chapters across the United States, Canada, and Australia. The Junior Classical League is the largest in the world today with over 50,000 members.

What...fees and forms are needed?
SV JCL Membership & snack fees: $15 per year (checks made out to SV JCL)
Pay $35 Pay to Participate fee + form to MAIN OFFICE. (See details from the district HERE)
Drug testing form to MAIN OFFICE. (See details from the district HERE)
Who...leads SV JCL?
Magistra Deeds, the RGMS Latin teacher, is the official sponsor of the club. Magistra Seelbaugh, the highschool Latin teacher, joins her in leading each meeting. There is also an elected student Executive Board who have a large hand in each of the monthly meeting agendas.

When...do you meet?
Monthly meetings from September 2021 through May 2022 right after the dismissal bell: 9/16, 10/21, 11/18, 12/16; 1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21, 5/19. Usually on the third Thursday unless SVSD's schedule prevents that from happening!
Where...do you meet?
In the RGMS Library.
How...do I get home?
Each JCL meeting ends at 5pm. At that point, students can be picked up by a parent, go to an additional SV activity or ride the SVSD activity bus home. For details on which activity bus serves your neighborhood, follow the link HERE.
