K-6 InstructionDr. Sean McCartyP: 724-452-6040, ext. 1762F: 724-453-1744Dr. Sean McCarty was promoted to the position of assistant superintendent of elementary education, grades K-6 in June 2012. Prior to his appointment, Dr. McCarty was the principal of Ryan Gloyer Middle School for five years. During his tenure there, the building was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2012, a National Middle school Association Schools to Watch Middle School in 2011, and was ranked in the top 10 in the Pittsburgh Business Times. He was also recognized by the School Library Journal as a finalist as one of the top ten administrators in the United States for library support, 2007. He was also the Middle School Assistant Principal for three years. During this time frame, the middle school was recognized as a Don Eichhorn award winner for a top middle school in the state of Pennsylvania. For eight years Dr. McCarty was a special education teacher where he was nominated as the district representative for the Sallie Mae First Class Teacher award. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Schools to Watch State Evaluation Team, Assoication for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP) and Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education (PAMLE). Dr. McCarty earned his bachelor degree from Slippery Rock University in elementary and special education. He earned his master's degree and doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh. An Adams Township resident, he lives with his wife and three children.
7-12 InstructionDr. Matthew McKinleyP: 724-452-6040, ext. 1762F: 724-453-1744Dr. Matthew McKinley serves as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Instruction, grades 7-12. Prior to his assistant role, he served for six years as principal of the Seneca Valley Senior High School. He also served as assistant principal of the Seneca Valley Senior High School and as a mathematics teacher at the same building for six years. Prior to coming to Seneca Valley, Dr. McKinley taught as a mathematics teacher at Mercer Area Junior/Senior High School. Dr. McKinley earned his bachelor of art’s degree in mathematics from Grove City College and obtained his Master of Education degree and his Doctor of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. McKinley developed the Academy of Choice Program in the district, which includes a growing cyber service program and a one-of-a kind performing arts department. He is also author of the Seneca Valley Random Drug Testing Policy, which has been lauded locally as well as nationally and was cited as a model program by the White House Drug Policy Council. As a high school and college athlete himself, Dr. McKinley has also spent time as an assistant football coach for the Seneca Valley Raiders for four years. He also has previous experience as a tutor.
