Immunization Regulations
Pennsylvania Law and Seneca Valley School District requires that all immunization mandates be completed prior to the first day of school.
Children in ALL grades (K-12) need the following immunizations for attendance:
- 4 doses of DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
- 4 doses of polio (1 dose on or after 4th birthday and at least six months after previous dose given)
- 2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- 3 doses of hepatitis B
- 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity
Grade 7 ADDITIONAL immunization requirements for entry:
- 1 dose meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)
- 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) [if five years have elapsed since last tetanus immunization]
Grade 12 ADDITIONAL immunization requirement for entry:
- 2nd dose meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) They must be at 16 years of age or older. (If the first MCV was given at age 16, then they only need one)
Exemptions to the school laws for immunizations are:
- Medical reasons;
- Religious beliefs; and
- Philosophical/strong moral or ethical conviction
If your child is exempt from immunizations, he/she may be removed from school during an outbreak.
