Ian Hunter, a 2009 graduate of Seneca Valley, returns to the District as Communications Director, bringing with him a strong background in radio broadcasting and public relations.

As a student at Seneca Valley, Mr. Hunter developed a passion for journalism and communications by writing and editing for the student newspaper and broadcasting football games with SVTV. He continued to pursue that passion at Clarion University (now PennWest Clarion), where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.

Following college, Mr. Hunter built a diverse media career, working at several radio stations in Punxsutawney, PA; Wilkes-Barre, PA; and Bloomington, IL. He then transitioned his career to public relations, serving as PR and Media Manager at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, where he was instrumental in re-establishing media relationships in the post-pandemic period. He later accepted the role of Director of Development and Community Outreach at Community Care Connections, a disability supports agency, becoming the first individual to hold that position.

In his current role, Mr. Hunter oversees all district communications, including written and digital publications, social media, and the district website. He also manages the "Voices" podcast series, the SV mobile app, and serves as the official spokesperson for Seneca Valley. His responsibilities also include press releases, annual report development, district marketing and promotion, and managing advertising across multiple platforms such as the website, and e-newsletter.

A proud resident and parent in the District, Mr. Hunter lives in the Seneca Valley community with his wife, Virginia, and their two children.
