Veterans Recognition Breakfast 2024
Ehrman Crest Middle School (ECMS) honored veterans this month by hosting their annual Veterans Recognition Breakfast. The breakfast consisted of about 75 veterans along with the students who invited them as their special guests. The ECMS band performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” followed by students who read poems and handwritten letters about veterans. Guests enjoyed a presentation featuring names and photos of local veterans and concluded the event with performances by the ECMS Orchestra and Chorus.
After the program, several classes had the unique opportunity to interview fifth grader Wyatt Tornifolio’s special guest and great-grandfather, WWII veteran Mr. John Panza! Mr. Panza shared from his time as a Private First Class in the Army and offered a glimpse into life growing up in the 1920s. Students asked thoughtful questions and enjoyed hearing Mr. Panza’s memorable stories!
Shoutout to Ms. Angela Cardillo’s second grade class from Rowan Elementary School for making the placemats used at the breakfast and for ECMS fifth and sixth grade teachers for organizing a fantastic event! Thank you, Veterans, for your courage, bravery and service to our nation.
