Exam Information for Parents

Here at Seneca Valley, we have dedicated ourselves to providing the best possible educational experience through a top-notch curriculum. As you can imagine, assessment plays a vital role in our continued success.  Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments designed to assess proficiency in Algebra I, Literature and Biology.
On October 24, 2018, Senate Bill 1095 was signed into law. Based on the new legislation, requirements for high school graduation will be effective in the 2022-2023 school year. The bill also establishes alternate pathways for high school graduation and creates additional options for students who are not proficient on the Keystone Exams to meet the statewide graduation requirement.
Additional information is available under the Links section.

Make-ups/Retesting:
PDE has established three testing windows each year (i.e., winter, spring, and summer). Therefore, students that are unable to participate in their scheduled test session will have the opportunity to test at a later date. The district will notify the parents/guardians of students that do not meet proficiency and are encouraged to re-test.

Exam Details:
All Keystone Exams will be taken online. The assessments are divided into two modules and will take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to administer. Also, student training materials are available on the district website under Academics/Keystone Exams. Students are encouraged to view the PA Online Assessment Student Tutorial and the PA Online Tools Training prior to participation in the online Keystone Exam. These tutorials will provide students with information about the online assessment and how to utilize the available tools.
Additional information will be sent home from the buildings prior to the administration of the Keystone Exam.
Until that time, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s counselor or principal with questions.
