Hi!  My name is Mrs. Lesney and I am the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade orchestra teacher at ECE, ECMS, and CVE.  Here is a little bit about my background... I graduated from Anderson University in Anderson, IN with a B.A. in Music Education with violin being my primary instrument.  After graduating, I taught at Penn Christian Academy for 6 years.  While there, I initiated and grew a 4th-6th grade orchestra program as well as a Heart Strings program for 1st-3rd graders to learn to play a stringed instrument in a small group Suzuki setting.  I have played with community orchestras such as the Anderson Symphony Orchestra and the Butler Symphony Orchestra.  For many years, I taught private lessons, but once my husband and I welcomed a baby girl into our lives in 2017, I put a hold on teaching private lessons.  In the Spring of 2018, I graduated with a Masters degree in Music Education from the University of Florida.

I began teaching at Seneca Valley in 2015.  I absolutely love teaching elementary and middle school orchestra students and strive to help my students to love learning their instrument.  One of my favorite things about my job is to watch a student go from picking up their instrument for the first time in 4th grade to being able to play the challenging and intricate music that we perform for our Spring concert in 6th grade.  Seeing that growth in each student is truly rewarding!  I believe that with a positive attitude and a little hard work every student can be successful in learning their instrument!
