Guest Artist Series: Barron
Local artist Craig Barron displayed his sculpture in the Big Gallery during the last few weeks and recently spoke with students as part of the Guest Artist Series. Barron shared his passion for art, discussed his sculpture, expressed his views on life, and answered student questions as part of his presentation. Barron hand makes every part of his sculpture--no parts are machine made--and it is all made from wood. He finishes his work so realistically that often viewers don't know that the sculpture is wood, not metal. He often hides humorous images within the sculpture, which when viewers notice them unexpectedly, make them think even deeper about the message of the work. Barron is an art preparator at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.
