13 students place in AABC Art Show
Thirteen Seneca Valley students recently placed in all six categories, including Best in Show, at the Associated Artists of Butler County (AABC) High School Student Art Show.
Senior Zofia Chrzankowska won Best in Show for her piece “Sunflower.” She was also awarded second place for her piece “Albino Moose” in the drawing category and for her piece “Moonlight” in the watercolor category.
In the drawing category senior Lucy Geronime placed first for her piece titled “Thanks Obama” and in the photography and digital art category, she placed fifth for her piece “Miss Manette, then.”
Sydney Long, senior, placed third for her piece “Magda on the Water” in the drawing category and fourth in the watercolor category for her piece named “Untitled.”
Junior Erin Piotrowski placed second for “White Noise” in the painting category and third for “Point of Expanse” in the mixed media and collage category.
In the photography and digital art category junior Matalyn Calma placed second for her piece titled “Abandoned Tea Party,” senior Krist Munoz- Malave placed third for his piece “Marlboro,” and freshman Emma Perdue’s “King Harmer” placed fourth.
Senior Savanna David placed second for her piece “Fungus Amongus” in the mixed media and collage category.
In the watercolor category, junior Lauren George placed third for her piece “Kiefer.”
Brooke Boltz, senior, placed in third for her piece titled “Fublephorius Mowbrius” in the painting category.
In the drawing category, senior Sierra Myers earned fourth place for her piece “Wishful Thinking” and junior Lindsey Ocheltree came in fifth for her piece “Scattered.”
Lastly, senior Maggie Hillebrand placed sixth for her 3-D/sculpture/ceramics piece “Dislodged.”
All students who won first place, second place, or Best in Show won cash prizes.
The artists’ reception and awards ceremony was held at the Art Center in Butler on March 17.
