NexTier provides generous donation through EITC
On Friday, Sept. 26, the Seneca Valley Foundation received a gracious and substantial donation of $15,000 on behalf of NexTier Bank through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program grant.
A statewide program, EITC enables businesses to make donations to organizations they choose from a Commonwealth – approved list. EITC is a statewide initiative enacted by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development in 2001. EITC enables eligible businesses, like NexTier Bank, to apply credits against their tax liability for the tax year in which they make a contribution to support education in Pennsylvania.
This year marks NexTier’s sixth consecutive year of participation with the state’s Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, and the second year a substantial amount has been provided to Seneca Valley. The positive outcome has been NexTier’s ability to distribute funds totaling over $900,000.
NexTier Bank’s donation and additional EITC monies will benefit the following classes at Seneca Valley:
• Women in Engineering (a class just for high school girls that focuses on Engineering concepts)
• Honors Engineering (mixed class of high school boys & girls, engineering exploration & robotics technology)
• Personal Finance (a class for juniors & seniors to teach personal financial literacy)
• Accounting (college credit accounting class for high school students grades 10-12)
If your business --or a business you know-- participates in EITC, please encourage them to dedicate EITC funds to the Seneca Valley Foundation.
