Winter Weather Causes Calendar, Schedule Revisions

Document Actions

Since January, the Seneca Valley School District has had three snow cancellation days.

The loss of these days creates educational and logistical issues for the first and second semesters if we do not move several of our calendar dates.  Mid term exams, finals and six week courses - just to name a few - would all be affected if we did not move the date and try to keep each semester at 90 days each. A half day is necessary on Feb. 20, as it allows teachers to wrap up the first semester and prepare for the second semester. It is also a contractual obligation.

Please note the following calendar / schedule updates:

• The end of the semester will be on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The scheduled half day of school for students will be moved to Wednesday, Feb. 20 (Friday, Feb. 15, becomes a full day for all students).

• Seniors will have a two-hour delay on Tuesday Feb 19. Seniors who are unable to obtain an alternate ride to school for the two-hour delay should ride the bus into school at the regular time and accommodations will be made for them. Seniors will NOT report to school on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

• The writing portion of the PSSA exam for juniors will be held on Feb. 19 and 20.

• The new semester will begin on Thursday, Feb. 21.

• Friday Night Family Swim has been canceled for Friday, Feb. 15.
