  • Mitch Codd, sophomore, took first place in the pole vault event at the Seneca Valley 9-10 Invitational on April 18. He won with a vault of 12 feet.
  • Senior Rose Snyder captured the WPIAL 200 Meter Freestyle Gold Medal at the WPIAL Championships on Tuesday, March 26. Rose was accompanied by Seneca Valley standout freshman Abby Meyers who earned the WPIAL Championship in the 100 Meter Butterfly. Snyder and Meyers will lead the women's team at the PIAA State Championships on March 12 -13, at Bucknell University. Raiders fans can check the PIAA website at www.piaa.org for updates of the championship meet.
  • Andrew Tang, a senior at Seneca Valley, was selected as the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League AAA Highmark Player of the Month for January and was be recognized on Feb. 19, at Mellon Arena during a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Florida Panthers. Congratulations Andrew!!!
  • The Seneca Valley Varsity Wrestling Team ended up finishing the season with an overall record of 11 wins and six losses, with an overall section record of five wins and four losses. The team ended up placing in two of three team tournaments during the season, including a third place at the North Hills Wrestling Dual's and a second place spot at the Seneca Valley Wrestling Invitational. As for the individual tournament season for wrestling, the following wrestlers placed and qualified for the WPIAL Regional Wrestling Tournament: Section Champion or first place; Zach Eckstrom - Heavyweight (this is his second time winning a section title) Section Runner up or second place; Grant Evans-119, Nate Cully-135 Third Place; Jordan Williams-189 Fourth Place; Dan Papst-130
  • Junior Allison Eagle drives the net and watches the ball fall during the Lady Raiders defeat of Taylor Alderdice High School. The Raiders out-played the city League power house with their brand of basketball that features aggressive defensive play and fast moving offensive attacks. The Raiders are striving to finish the season with their first playoff birth under Head Coach Kelly Matthews.

  • Juniors Dustin Anewalt, C.J. Brown and Senior John Fitzpatrick wait for a rebound during the first half of the Seneca Valley vs. North Allegheny Boys Basketball game. Seneca Valley dominated the Tigers, who held the WPIAL number one ranking in the Quad A North Section during the hoops fray. The Raiders out-scored the Tigers 56 to 40 and produced the most stunning upset in the traditional rivalry between the two schools. Congratulations Raiders!
  • The Seneca Valley Girls' Varsity Soccer Team won the WPIAL Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3, against Upper St. Clair, 2-0. The Lady Raiders, who boast a season record of 17-3-1, advance to the PIAA first round playoff game against Mt. Lebanon at 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, at Marterelli Stadium. All-Section players include Alicia Rees, Logan Gamelier and Jenifer Jergel.
  • The Seneca Valley Boys’ Golf Team clinched a share of the section title, qualifying for the team playoffs, and set a new school record for team score on October 3 as they defeated New Castle 179-216. Luke Martin and Dave Roberts led the Raiders, firing one under par 34’s, Matt Vogt had a 36, Connor McCaffrey a 37 and Andrew Tang shot a 38.
  • The Seneca Valley Girls' Volleyball Team hosted the school's first international competition against the Qi Qihar Experimental High School from the Peoples Republic of China. Following the match both teams shared a wonderful meal as well as an opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of the cultures from each country. One of the more interesting facts that the Seneca Valley students learned about the education system in China is that students go to school six days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Members of the 2007-08 Varsity Raider Football Team are introduced at the recent kick-off bonfire held at North Boundary Park. The event featured the first performance of the Varsity Raider Cheerleader and Dance Teams and energized the players as they prepare to open the football season at 7:30 p.m. on August 31 against the Norwin Knights at NexTier Stadium. Area veterans will also be recognized during a special pre-game recognition ceremony.
  • The Seneca Valley Boys Cross Country team finished second and the Girls Team finished fourth in the WPIAL Championships on Oct. 26. It is only the second time a boys team has gone to states and the first time that two cross country teams from Seneca are attending in the same year. Both the boys and girls teams each had a freshman in the Top 5 runners. Members of the Boys' Crossing Country Team are seen here as they finish in a seven-way tie for first during a recent meet against Shaler. The Boy's finished the season as section champs with an undefeated record of 10-0, and finished 2nd out of 49 teams at Cooper's Lake in the Tri-State Championships. The girls dual meet season ended at 5-4 and finished 9th out of 43 teams in the Tri-State Championships.
